Meet the executive team

Per Mikael Jensen
President and Chief Executive Officer

Per Mikael Jensen re-joined Metro International as CEO and President late 2007. Per Mikael, born in 1962, holds a degree in journalism from the Denmark School of Journalism. He has had a 24-year career in the media industry including management positions with the Danish newspapers Politiken, Jyllandsposten and MetroXpress (subsidiary of Metro International), as well as Global Editor-in- Chief of Metro International, managing director of Metro New York and CEO of TV2 Denmark.

Maggie Samways

Maggie Samways
Executive Vice President and Global Editor in Chief

Margaret (Maggie) Samways joined Metro International S.A. in 2003 and worked at the Boston and New York editions, running the combined Metro US newsroom in New York City. In 2009 she moved to London to run Metro International S.A.’s central editorial office as Global Editor in Chief, responsible for editorial policy and compliance in all Metro editions worldwide. Maggie was appointed Executive Vice President in October 2010. Prior to moving to London, she worked for the New York Daily News, and her freelance reporting has appeared in major US newspapers, TimeOut magazine, and Information Age magazine. Maggie’s reporting projects have been awarded by the Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ), and Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE). She holds dual bachelor of arts degrees, in Journalism and Political Science, from the University of Connecticut.

Johanna Öberg
Executive Vice President and Commercial Director

Johanna Öberg joined Metro International S.A. in 2009 as Sales Director for the Travel segment. She was appointed Vice President and Group Sales Director in April 2010 with responsibility for developing and implementing sales excellence throughout the organisation. In October 2010 she was appointed Executive Vice President. Johanna has an extensive media background and has held various management positions within the industry during the last ten years. Prior to joining Metro International S.A. she was Sales and Marketing Director at MTG owned TV8. Johanna holds a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration from the Stockholm School of Economics.

Anders Kronborg
Chief Financial Officer and Chief of Staff

Anders joined Metro in late 2007 with responsibility for HQ functions, organizational and business development. In October 2008, Anders was appointed Chief Financial Officer as well as continuing his responsibilities as Chief of Staff. He has 11 years experience in the media sector working as CFO, CEO and COO in the biggest national TV and Newspaper companies in Denmark. Prior to that he spent 10 years in the Danish ministry of Finance.


Pablo Mazzei
Executive Vice President and Regional Director Latin America

Pablo Mazzei was appointed Executive Vice President in January 2010. Pablo is responsible for Metro International S.A.’s interests in Latin America including the existing operations in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Mexico, and the development of new markets. At the same time he is the Managing Director of the newspaper operation in Chile, as well as board member of the associated companies. Pablo has experience from working in the advertising market. He joined Metro International S.A. from a position as Managing Director of Carlson Marketing Group, where he was responsible for establishing the operation in Chile. Previous to this, he held a number of positions within the consumer product industry at different companies, Sara Lee, Shell and CCU to mention a few. He joined Metro International S.A. in 2001.
