Metro is proud to announce the four global winners in the Metro Global Photo Challenge 2011 by category:
The winners have gone through a three level judging process. First of all, four finalists were selected in each country by the local jury, and another four finalists were selected by ‘public vote’ (Facebook likes). These finalists were then reviewed by the Global Jury, chaired by Nigel Barker, renowned Fashion Photographer & Judge on the show “America’s Next Top Model” in New York.
“It’s an honor to be back judging such a wide variety of international talent for the Metro Global Photo Challenge. From fashion photography to fine art, from combat, to wedding photography, the medium of photography has never been more tangible and is an exciting career choice,” the Global Jury Chairman, commented.
Christian Quarles, Global Marketing Director at Metro International, commented “This year we developed and improved the technical platform for the global website, improved the link and engagement to social media, launched new features and provided opportunities for participants to earn money on their photos. The results are beyond our expectations with more participants and better photos than ever!”
Globally, there were over 160 000 photos submitted, over 1 million unique visitors on the website during the three months, and over 11 000 comments were posted on www.metrophotochallenge.com .
